ROMAN MAPS OF SUSSEX FARMS

By S. Trevor Davies

Many people have long waits for a train but some hedges have waited 500 years before railways enabled them to be shown on maps!!

Trevor Davies is a retired schoolteacher living in Sussex. In 1973 – 4 he undertook a survey of hedges in the Hurstpierpoint area using Hooper's dating system based on the species count, as part of his qualification for Membership of the Institute of Biology (MIBiol). This site is based on the project submitted for this.

Sadly, Trevor died on 11th February 2005 aged 78
