Making a Roman Ruler

In the 70's before personal computers were available a method was devised to measure actus of fields. Take a piece of plain paper and on the edge mark the scale of 2330 yards, usually by taking the mile then adding the extra 570 yards.

1 mile = 1760 yds. Add 570 yds = 2330 yds =60 actus.

1 actus = 116.5 ft, 3 actus = 116.5 yds, 30 actus = 1165 yds.

Double it for 60 actus.

Now use the marks on the plain paper to measured 2330 yds across 60 lines of graph paper.as shown.
